System Checks

This page automatically checks if your browser is JavaScript enabled and can start a PHP Session (necessary for running the identification tests). Note: PHP Sessions will expire after 24 minutes of inactivity.

Yes! PHP Session check passed.

Click Audio Check to verify your browser supports the HTML5 audio element. Note: the audio check clip will open in a new window. If the new window does not open, your browser may be blocking pop-ups. Try holding the Ctrl key down while clicking the Audio Check link.

The Birder Certification program has been tested on several different browsers, including Windows Internet Explorer (versions 6.0, 7.0, 8.0), Windows FireFox, Windows Google Chrome, Mac Firefox, and Mac Safari. Known issue with Mac Safari: Safari does not allow page cache blocking, so pages will not refresh. If you are using Mac Safari, do not use your brower's Back and Forward buttons to navigate this website (use only the links within the site). Additionally, all information you enter is cached in Safari, so be sure to clear your browser cache after you are finished using this website.

Enabling JavaScript. If you are using Windows Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Security and set the Security setting no higher than Default level; or if using Custom level, check Active Scripting to Enable. For Windows Firefox go to Tools, Options, Content and check Enable JavaScript. For Mac Firefox, go to Preferences, Content and check Enable JavaScript. For Mac Safari, go to Preferences, Security and check Enable JavaScript.

Enabling Audio. The audio identification tests use the HTML5 audio element to open and play on your computer's default media player. If the audio clips do not appear or only an icon appears, your browser does not support HTML5.
